Angel Adedokun returns as one of the 4 Esata’s for Co-Founders. Last year, the musical “Co-Founders” combined hip hop, art and Bay Area culture in its technologically ground breaking show. “Co-Founders” is the story of two unlikely partners chasing impossible entrepreneurial dreams. And the show went on to sell out of tickets during their run in San Francisco, and now the creators are back — with a real life version of their musical!
It’s called The “All People Powered Concert & Pitch Competition.” And it’s a mix of live music performances and aspiring tech entrepreneurs in a competition of ideas. And it is happening this Saturday at the Henry J. Kaiser Center in Oakland.

Co-Founders is the story of an underrated young Oakland coder, Esata, who hacks her way into the most competitive startup accelerator in San Francisco. Determined to save her house as an influx of wealth threatens to push her community out, Esata forms an unlikely partnership with a prep-school dropout. In a field where the privileged make a killing while folks across the bridge grind to survive, can Esata win Silicon Valley’s game without leaving her community behind? Created by three extraordinary Bay Area voices, the piece features a deliciously catchy score that draws from the Bay’s rich hip-hop traditions, as well as soul, gospel, funk, jazz, R&B, and more. Employing visual technology entirely new to theater, Co-Founders is a sharply funny, deeply felt, exuberant celebration of the Bay and the dreamers, hustlers, and innovators that make it magical.

Joshua Tree, CA. 3:00PMAngel will be joining Bongo Sidibe and The Ton Tons for Joshua Tree 2024. Bongo Sidibe moved from the West African nation of Guinea to San Francisco in 2008 and wasted no time putting his deep trove of rhythmic knowledge into action. As the music director of Duniya Dance and Drum Company, a singular troupe that combines South Asian and West African culture, he’s directed several acclaimed music and dance productions. As the leader of the TonTons, Sidibe has created a thrilling sound rooted in Guinean tradition but also powered by funk, Manding reggae, ragga and dancehall. Over the past 15 years he’s performed with luminaries such as Joan Baez, Mickey Hart and Black Nature from the Sierra Leone Refugee Allstars. A devoted educator, Sidibe also teaches West African drumming with the San Francisco Ballet, Loco Bloco and Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts, and drums for a weekly West African dance class at Dance Mission. He is also a singer and percussionist with Dogon Lights, and performed with them at JTMF.Yoshi’s in Oakland- june 1, 2024
